Prepare to Swoop!
On Wed 26th August, the Camp for Climate Action will take back the city of London in a massive public swoop. Everyone is welcome to join us, as we converge on the secret location where the camp will rise. This summer, we are swooping together, and together we will transform a part of London into the physical manifestation of our desired worlds.

Starting positions
Note: You need to be at your starting point at 12 noon. Please be prepared to swoop and stay. Please don’t change your swoop group if you’ve already signed up – this arrangement of colours will boost swooping effectiveness :-)

Here are the starting points for the Summer Swoop on Wednesday 26 August. We have merged some groups for practical reasons:

Meet under Waterloo Bridge, on the South Bank, by the National Film Theatre (where the London critical mass starts).

This meet-up point is next to Shell building in Waterloo. Shell has a long history of human rights abuses connected to its extraction of oil and gas, from Nigeria to Rossport, Ireland.

Meet outside BP head office, St James’ Square, SW1Y 4PD. Nearest tube: Piccadilly Circus

BP is the world’s third-largest oil company and trailblazer for greenwash. It is heavily involved in the rush for tar-sand exploitation in Canada.

Meet outside the Bank of England, Threadneedle Street, London EC2R 8AH. Nearest tube: Bank

The Bank of England in the symbolic heart of our failed economic system, and was the scene of police kettling and violence at April’s G20 protests, which resulted in the death of Ian Tomlinson.

Meet outside Stratford station. Nearest tube: Stratford

Stratford station is directly adjacent to the site of the London 2012 Olympics. We will show our solidarity with communities in East London displaced by the Olympics and fighting for a positive legacy for East London.

Meet outside Rio Tinto, Aldermanbury Square, EC2V 7HR. Nearest tube: Moorgate

Rio Tinto is one of the world’s biggest mining and exploration companies, and a nexus of the global coal industry.

Meet outside Stockwell tube station. Nearest tube: Stockwell

Stockwell tube station is where Jean Charles de Menezes was shot by police gunmen in July 2005. We will show our solidarity with all those who have experienced police violence.
